Creating Your Own Journal Pages Is Easy
Making – even designing – your own printable journal pages using watercolor clipart is simple and easy.
This is a beautiful way to add your own personal style to your journaling pages.
Not only does this technique create lovely journal pages but you can also use these printable pages as digital stationary, printable paper, or use in your letter writing or scrapbooking.
Let’s get started.
Watercolor Clip art and Journaling
Clipart is a natural fit with journaling and using watercolor clip art adds a level of beauty to your printed journal pages.
I really love how easy this is!
You can make your own watercolor clipart, find copyright free clipart on the web, or purchase hand painted clipart that you fall in love with. Watercolor clip art is very affordable and has the advantage of being able to be used over and over again for any personal project you choose.
I will be using my own watercolor clipart collections in this post, but you can use any you like.
Try your creative hand at making abstract watercolor clip art for a different, modern feel.
The Tools You’ll Need for Adding Watercolor Clipart to Your Project
You can add clipart in many ways.
I use the free image manipulation software, Gimp, but if you have Photoshop available, that works great as well.
Both of these programs are amazing but you don’t need to use something so complicated to create your printable journal papers.
Online programs such as Canva are super easy to use and offer both free and paid versions.
No matter what tool you use, the process for creating digital papers is the same:
- upload your clip art files to the program
- place them on your digital paper (lined or unlined)
- adjust them as desired
- export as your desired file format
- print and use!
Eucalyptus Printable Journal Pages
(Do you love reading as well as journaling? If you’re like me you always can use another beautiful bookmark. Cute handmade bookmarks with quotes, artwork, and more, right here.)
Watercolor eucalyptus clipart is very popular right now and for good reason.
It’s gorgeous! And very easy to use in a variety of projects.
Look for watercolor clipart that comes on a transparent background (png format) so different layers of the clip art can be adjusted and customized the way you want.
Play around with your layers. See what looks better to you. Changing the opacity of one (or more) or the layers will give the illusion of depth to your artwork.
You can also change the size of the layers to make your clipart bigger or smaller. This allows you to use a clipart set to create a wide variety of looks for many different uses.
Hint: Think outside of the box when creating printable papers. Postcards, study guides, gift tags and more will benefit from your creative touches.
Strawberry Digital Writing Paper
Who doesn’t love strawberries? This type of botanical clip art really looks great on the pages of a journal or printable stationary.
You may like the look of a lot of these strawberries on your journal pages. Or you may prefer a more minimalist look.
You can also create several journal pages with different watercolor clipart arrangements to give a customized feel to your journal.
Floral Printable Journaling
Here’s a different look for using watercolor clipart on your printable journal pages.
Instead of a random usage of the clip art, I’ve created a floral clipart banner that can be resized to fit exactly where you want with no big decisions needed about creating an arrangement of the clip art.
The middle banner I made translucent so you can write over it easily. A subtle look that’s very practical for a journal.
And since you’re making your own printable journaling pages, you can easily add your own journaling prompts to each page as you add your watercolor clipart.
